The game of the year is upon us, as Monday night, the Kansas City Chiefs host the Philadelphia Eagles. This, of course, is a rematch of Super Bowl LVII, where Patrick Mahomes bested Jalen Hurts, 38-35. Monday night will be the first Super Bowl rematch in the following season where.
This is actually the ninth Super Bowl rematch to occur the following season all-time. The Super Bowl victor won six out of the previous eight matchups. Andy Reid has had his former team’s number, as he has won and covered the spread in all four games vs. the Eagles during his reign as Chiefs head coach.
The Chiefs offense hasn’t been as explosive compared to previous years, but the defense has been outstanding. In fact, Kansas City’s defense is on pace to be Reid’s best scoring defense since 2002, as it allows 15.9 points per game. That ranks second in the NFL behind the San Francisco 49ers. The Chiefs defense faces a tough test with the versatile Hurts, however. The dual-threat quarterback is out for revenge, and he has two speedsters on the outside who will test Steve Spagnuolo’s unit in A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith.
