Defender Tomas Palacios is likely to sign his contract with Inter Milan tomorrow.
This according to Italian news outlet FCInterNews. They report that the end is nearly in sight as far as the Argentine’s transfer saga, although bureaucratic delays will hold up the move by about a day.
The last few days have seen a bit of an anxious wait around Palacios’s transfer to Inter.
The 21-year-old already underwent his medicals ahead of the move on Monday morning.
Palacios has been in Milan for a few days. He is ready to make the move, and has completed all the bureaucratic formalities on his end such as obtaining a work permit in Italy.
Palacios is simply waiting for the final green light.
The young defender has agreed all the terms with Inter. He is ready to sign a five-year deal that will make him a Nerazzurri player until the end of June 2029.
But the wait has gone on for Palacios’s transfer to Inter to actually become official.
And the reason for this has been that the final details of negotiations have dragged on.
At the root of the situation has been a somewhat complicated ownership situation.
Palacios is owned by Talleres. However, he is on loan at Independient Rivadivia, another Argentine club.
Moreover, Rivadivia have a purchase option for when the loan deal expires at the end of December.
Therefore, those two clubs along with Inter have had to find an agreement on a structure of a deal that would terminate the loan and facilitate Palacios’s move to Inter.
The talks have been ongoing for a couple of weeks.
And the Argentine clubs have been cooperative. Still, though, in the last couple of days, there have still been some details to hammer out in the deal.
But today, intermediaries were at Inter headquarters to finalize the transfer.
FCIN confirm that absolutely everything is in place for Palacios to sign his contract and become an Inter player.
However, as of yet, the Nerazzurri do not have all the necessary documents from Talleres and Rivadivia.
Because of the time zone difference, those documents are not likely to arrive today, in Italy.
But they should be in place by tomorrow.
And because Palacios has already undergone his medicals, the Argentina Under-20 international will be able to sign his deal immediately to begin his journey at Inter.
